Curry, who suffered a stroke in 2012 that put him in a wheelchair, died Tuesday night at his home in Los Angeles, according to his longtime manager and friend Marcia Hurwitz. No cause was disclosed.
Known for his arch humor, a putty-like face and gift with voices, Curry earned three Tony nominations — for “Spamalot,” My Favorite Year
and “Amadeus” — and an Emmy nod in 1994.
The Rocky Horror Show and The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Curry burst onto the scene as the Transylvanian Frank-N-Furter in the sci-fi, cross-dressing rock musical The Rocky Horror Show,
which premiered in 1973 at the Royal Court Theatre in London. He went with it to Broadway and then starred in the 1975 cult-classic movie alongside Barry Bostwick, Meat Loaf and Susan Sarandon.

The Los Angeles Police Department said a death investigation report was completed late Tuesday night for an 80-year-old man at a home in Los Angeles, though police did not identify the body as Curry.
Born into a military family in Cheshire, England, in 1946, the British singer and actor grew up moving from place to place before eventually returning to the U.K. and starting his career, which began in the original 1968 production of “Hair” in London’s West End. He started his professional acting career shortly after graduating from the University of Birmingham in the U.K.
Curry had faced health problems for more than 10 years, including a 2012 stroke that left him unable to walk and partially paralyzed, as he shared in his memoir, “Vagabond,” which came out in 2025.
