IKEAはMicrosoftのXboxと共同で、リビングルームのインテリアに自然に馴染む新しいゲーミング家具およびアクセサリーのコレクションを発表しました。Ikea has teamed up with Microsoft to launch a new assortment of gaming-inspired furniture and home accessories, with the collection reflecting an era where gaming gear moves out of teen bedrooms and into mainstream living spaces, according to press materials.
Coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the first Xbox console, the assortment is officially named YXSTABY. The range goes on sale in the U.K. from October via the retailer’s website and in IKEA stores, and is currently on display on Xbox’s booth over at Gamescom.
コントローラーのモチーフを落とし込んだYXSTABYコレクションの全貌
両社のデザイナーが共同で開発した「YXSTABY（イクスタビー）」は、コントローラーのデザインや機能を大胆に取り入れた全9種類のアイテムで構成されています。Created together by Xbox and IKEA designers, the nine-piece collection includes functional furniture such as controller display boxes, castored TV stands, and storage side tables.
The collection also features a multi-functional toolbox, a stool, a cushion, a decorative platter, a mirrored display box, an easel-style TV stand available in white or black, and a lounge chair with a mesh pocket on the underside designed to store game controllers, magazines, and large books. The green X-shaped scatter cushion and thumbstick-inspired stool are among the most Xbox-coded pieces in the YXSTABY collection.
Ikea said the stool was developed using original 3D design files for the Xbox controller, with the grippy textured surface serving to prevent users from slipping. Ikea began prototyping the stool in various materials such as cork and wood, doing a lot of 3D printing with different versions of the base’s radius.

Wahl’s team added more Xbox details afterward, such as rubber rings for grip on the base that mirror rings on the top of swappable Elite controller thumbsticks. As you assemble the stool, there’s a surprise for the particularly observant, as Wahl hid a message that you only see once when you assemble the stool: ‘Hej from Älmhult’, which is the small Swedish town where Ikea’s HQ is based.
また、Xbox Eliteコントローラーの凹型メタルDパッドを模した金属製のトレイや、XboxのグリーンがアクセントになったX字型のクッションもラインナップされています。The range includes some really out-there stuff, not least in the form of a joystick-themed stool, alongside other functional items designed to fit comfortably into everyday home environments.
リビングに馴染む実用性と価格設定
今回のコラボレーションは、単にゲーマー向けの派手な什器を作るのではなく、自宅でのゲームのプレイ方法の変化に対応することを目指しています。How people play at home has shifted, and it is as much about relaxing and connecting with others as it is about performing, explained Philip Dilé, an IKEA product design developer, noting that the goal was to create furniture people actually want in their homes.

Working with Ikea gave them the opportunity to design for the entire gaming experience at home, from the screen to the space around it. Ledbetter was surprised just how nice the thumbstick stool is to perch on, stating it feels good and can accommodate multiple playing postures.
