Netflix has officially confirmed that a third movie in The Inbetweeners franchise is moving ahead, with production beginning in the U.K. featuring original lead cast members Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison, and Joe Thomas.
Netflix announced that production on the new film has officially started, bringing back the core cast for a continuation of the popular British coming-of-age comedy.

In the teaser clip, the actors appear as young men driving the battered yellow 1996 Fiat Cinquecento Hawaii edition car that Simon Cooper received from his parents after passing his driving test in the first series. The original television sitcom followed the suburban teenagers as they navigated school life, friendship, and failed sexual encounters at the fictional Rudge Park Comprehensive between 2008 and 2010 on Channel 4.

Series creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris have returned to write and direct the third film. The production involves Claire Jones alongside Banijay’s Patrick Holland and Fudge Park Production’s Mark Lesbirel, with executive production handled by Caroline Levy, Caroline Leddy, Phil Gilbert, Suzanne Knight, Tom Jordan, and Farhana Bhula for Film4.
The original television series set ratings records for Channel 4 across its three seasons and earned multiple awards. Its success led to two Film4-backed movies released in 2011 and 2014 respectively. The first film went straight to No. 1 at the box office, setting a record for the biggest opening weekend for a U.K. comedy at the time of its release, while the sequel also broke box office records.
