CENTCOM Conducts Seventh Consecutive Night of Strikes Against Iranian Military Assets

US Central Command (CENTCOM) has launched a seventh consecutive night of strikes on Iran. In a post on X on Friday, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the strikes began at 19:00 GMT (10:30pm in Iran) and were designed to continue degrading Iranian military capabilities at the Commander in Chief’s direction. CENTCOM stated that the operation employed fighter aircraft, aerial drones and warships to strike Iran’s surveillance sites, military logistics infrastructure, underground weapons storage, and maritime capabilities.

Infrastructure Damage Reported Across Bandar Abbas and Yazd

According to CENTCOM, locations targeted included Jask, Sirik, Bushehr, Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island, Ahvaz, and Yazd. Iranian state television reported three explosions in the southern city of Sirik, while the state news agency IRNA reported five explosions in the early hours of Saturday in Yazd. Additionally, reports circulating on social media and regional monitoring accounts claimed a US military strike destroyed a key road bridge near Bandar Abbas, severing a major transportation link across the Shur River. NBC News reported that IRNA stated at least six bridges were hit, including one under construction, and that a railway junction station just west of Bandar Abbas was also hit.

Casualties and Humanitarian Impact

Hormozgan Province Faces Electricity Grid Failure and Civilian Casualties

Iranian state media reported that at least three people were killed and eight others wounded in attacks in Hormozgan province, which borders the Strait of Hormuz. France 24 reported that Tehran announced eight people killed in strikes targeting civilian infrastructure, while Iran also reported damage to the southern electricity grid and said bridges, a port, an airport, and a rail station were struck. Iran acknowledged attacks on power infrastructure for the first time on Friday, with the Energy Ministry asking people in southern provinces to use less electricity, according to ISNA.

Retaliation and Regional Tensions

Majid Mousavi Threatens Regional Infrastructure in Response to US Naval Blockade

Tehran has responded to the campaign with threats and counterstrikes. IRGC Aerospace Force commander Majid Mousavi vowed on Friday that Tehran will not stop its attacks in the region until the United States halts strikes on Iran’s southern coast and the Strait of Hormuz. The Guardian quoted an IRGC statement warning that crossing red lines and attacking civilians and civilian infrastructure will have a very severe and devastating price to pay for countries hosting US bases. NorNews reported that a senior spokesperson of the Armed Forces warned that any damage to Iran’s infrastructure would be answered by targeting all regional infrastructure.

Tehran has hit back with new attacks on US allies in the Middle East, including a strike on water infrastructure in Kuwait. NorNews claimed Iran struck targets in Kuwait, Jordan, Syria, Bahrain, and Qatar. While Iran pressed the UN Human Rights Office to condemn what it called ongoing US military aggression, CENTCOM emphasized its role in the region, stating: “American forces remain vigilant as the United States strictly enforces the naval blockade against Iran. During the first three days of renewed implementation, U.S. forces have redirected 4 commercial vessels, disabled 1, and boarded 1 to ensure full compliance.”
