Medinah Country Club Presidents Cup
The 2026 PGA Tour regular season concluded with Scottie Scheffler securing his second FedEx Cup title. Following the conclusion of the season, attention has shifted to the 2026 Presidents Cup, scheduled to be held at Medinah Country Club in Chicago from Sept. 22-27. U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker has already secured six players who automatically qualified for the team: Scottie Scheffler, Wyndham Clark, Sam Burns, Cameron Young, Russell Henley, and Collin Morikawa. The remaining six roster spots, determined by captain’s picks, are set to be announced at 5 p.m. ET Tuesday on Golf Channel.
Jackson Koivun professional credentials
The selection process for the U.S. team has been highlighted by the inclusion of rookie Jackson Koivun. Despite only turning professional this summer, Koivun won the 3M Open in just his third professional start. While he does not rank in the top 20 of the Presidents Cup standings, his credentials include a 6-1 record in NCAA match play, which features two victories in Auburn’s national championship matches, and a 3-1 record in his only Walker Cup appearance. According to reports, Koivun is the second-youngest Presidents Cup player in history after Jordan Spieth.
Brandt Snedeker roster candidates
As U.S. captain Brandt Snedeker finalizes his roster, other candidates remain in contention. Chris Gotterup is considered a lock after winning three times in 2026. Xander Schauffele, who has been a staple of American teams since 2019, is also expected to be named. Justin Thomas, described as the emotional leader for Team USA,
is another anticipated selection, despite not posting a top-10 finish since the PGA Championship. Patrick Cantlay, who holds a 10-4-0 record in three Presidents Cups, is also on the right side of the bubble following a strong playoff run.
Geoff Ogilvy International team roster
Other players remain under consideration as the deadline approaches. Ryan Gerard, who finished third at East Lake on Sunday and 20th in Total Strokes Gained this season, is being evaluated for a spot. Conversely, players like Ben Griffin and J.J. Spaun are viewed as being on the bubble. Spaun, the 2025 U.S. Open champion, enters the final decision window after withdrawing from the Tour Championship with an injury. Akshay Bhatia and Maverick McNealy are also listed among the remaining candidates, while Michael Thorbjornsen and Rickie Fowler are considered long shots for the roster.
The International team, led by captain Geoff Ogilvy, finalized its own qualification period on Sunday. The International roster for Medinah includes Adam Scott, Si Woo Kim, Tom Kim, Ryan Fox, Hideki Matsuyama, and Min Woo Lee.
