Playground Games has confirmed that Forza Horizon 6 is still scheduled to launch on the PlayStation 5 later in 2026, putting to rest rumors of a postponement, alongside new details on upcoming automotive features and cross-play support.

When Forza Horizon 6 was announced in 2025, it was revealed that the game would only be available on PC and Xbox consoles at launch. While developers confirmed a PS5 release was on the way, players were confused about whether the title would arrive in the same year or if they would have to wait until 2027. The game eventually launched for Xbox Series X/S and PC on May 19, 2026.
Recently, rumors circulated that Xbox had quietly decided to postpone the Sony console launch until next year. Playground Games refuted these rumors in a lengthy new blog post celebrating British Automotive in the game. In the post, Playground stated:

The PlayStation Store page for the title is already live, allowing players to wishlist the game. While a firm release date has not yet been named, there is speculation that it could be announced at the Tokyo Game Show 2026 later this month, as the game was part of that event last year.

Alongside the PS5 news, developers introduced the British Automotive update, which includes a new feature called Drift Attack starting today. This feature will become permanent and allows players to unlock the 1990 Jaguar XJ-S Forza Edition.
The update also includes a takeover of the Horizon Stadium. Through the Festival Playlist, players can acquire 3 new-to-Horizon cars
: the 2006 Vauxhall Astra VXR, the 2019 Ginetta G40 Junior, and the 2025 Bentley Continental GT Speed.

As 2026 comes to an end, the release window faces heavy competition. September and October are loaded with big releases, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and Marvel’s Wolverine. However, November is viewed as more challenging because Grand Theft Auto VI is expected to be released that month.
GTA 6 is expected to dominate the industry upon release with features including races and an in-depth car customization system. While December may be more feasible, the hype for GTA 6 is expected to remain very high for the holiday season.
