Philadelphia Eagles training camp reached Day 10 in August 2026, featuring sharp performances from Jalen Hurts and Darius Cooper alongside renewed trench physicality, while former stars Michael Vick and DeSean Jackson visited to promote an upcoming HBCU showcase event.
Both Vic Fangio and Jalen Carter stated that they believe Jalen Hurts looks faster this summer, with Hurts appearing certainly leaner during workouts. On one specific play during the session, Hurts ran to his right while being chased from behind by Jalyx Hunt. Although Hunt went into a full-out sprint to catch the quarterback, he could not make up any ground and ultimately gave up the chase. Hurts also delivered a solid day throwing the football, highlighted by a deep ball to the post caught for a long touchdown by Elijah Moore. Moore was streaking down the field from the slot, faked to the corner to turn Andre’ Sam around, and broke cleanly to the post to get wide open on a clean, easy throw delivered in stride.
Darius Cooper Shines in Training Camp
The Darius Cooper show took center stage during the team’s ninth practice of the summer, marking the start of the first preseason week. The second-year receiver emerged as a standout in the session, continuing an eye-opening start to training camp during a period when the wide receiver depth chart remains in flux.
Practice observations also highlighted the running back group, where Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby showed potential as an explosive 1-on-1 combination. During 1-on-1 pass protection drills matching running backs against linebackers, Saquon Barkley notched a couple of wins over Zack Baun as the only back to show well in those specific reps. Jihaad Campbell beat Tank Bigsby multiple times, including once after Bigsby held him and another time using a ghost move to get around him. Jeremiah Trotter recorded easy wins over Will Shipley as well as a win over Carson Steele. Shipley also experienced a difficult moment during 11-on-11 work when he was late recognizing a blitz by Smael Mondon off the edge, resulting in a collision with Tanner McKee’s plant leg while trying to reach the free rusher. Offensive line coach Chris Kuper subsequently had Shipley watch the replay of the rep on the big screen with coaching points.
Tyler Steen Strong Showing in Trenches
An offensive line versus defensive line 1-on-1 session featured a strong showing from Tyler Steen, who secured wins over Jalen Carter and Ty Robinson. Steen has enjoyed a positive camp, pointing toward a potential performance leap this season. Later in the session, Tyler Steen and defensive tackle Ty Williams scuffled after an 11-on-11 rep, though no punches were thrown and the minor pileup was quickly broken up.
Injury updates accompanied the stretching period at the start of practice. Cam Jurgens participated in practice after leaving the previous two sessions early without apparent concern. Wide receiver Britain Covey returned on a limited basis following an absence due to a hamstring injury. Makai Lemon and DeVonta Smith remained sidelined with hamstring injuries, while Johnny Wilson joined the injury report with a knee issue. Cornerback Jonathan Jones was absent due to a shoulder injury, and other missing players included wide receiver Danny Gray with a concussion, edge rusher Keyshawn James-Newby with an ankle injury, running back Dameon Pierce with a hamstring injury, and safety Cole Wisniewski.
The Eagles also executed several roster moves, signing defensive tackle David Blay, running back Ja’Quinden Jackson, and edge rusher Tarron Jackson, while placing running back Elijah Mitchell on injured reserve and waiving guard Jaeden Roberts and tight end Dae’Quan Wright.
Michael Vick and DeSean Jackson Visit
Among those watching from the sideline were Norfolk State coach and former NFL star Michael Vick, alongside Delaware State coach DeSean Jackson, who arrived later to promote One Philly HBCU Week
scheduled for October, when four HBCU schools will play at the Eagles’ stadium. The marquee matchup will feature Norfolk State against Delaware State on October 31.
