それでも、欧州のストックス600指数は小幅な動きで過去最高値を更新した。
英国、フランス、ドイツ、イタリアなどの大手企業をすべて含む同指数は0.2％上昇して525.63ポイントとなり、6月7日の525.59ポイントというこれまでの日中最高値を更新した。
これはまた、米国の景気後退懸念から取引が突然混乱に陥った8月初旬の金融市場の混乱からの完全な回復を示している。これまでのところ、その懸念は杞憂だったようだ。

英国の住宅価格の年間上昇率は20か月ぶりの高水準。短縮勤務は「英国の柔軟な勤務形態の1つ」

英国の住宅価格 ネイションワイドの最新データによると、8月の住宅価格は過去20か月間で最速の年間増加率を記録したが、2022年夏に記録した過去最高値には及ばなかった。
英国最大の住宅金融組合は、年間成長率は7月の2.1％から2.4％に上昇したと発表した。しかし、月次ベースでは価格が0.2％下落しており、これは「季節要因」によるものだとしている。
つまり、英国の住宅の平均価格は265,375ポンドだった。
ロバート・ガードナー、 全国のチーフエコノミストは、イングランド銀行の金利引き下げは 住宅価格を押し上げる可能性が高い彼はこう言った。
住宅価格の伸びと動きは歴史的な基準からすると依然として低調であるものの、金利が上昇する環境と、住宅価格が平均所得に比べて高い水準にとどまっている（そのため頭金の調達がより困難になっている）状況において、住宅価格は回復力を示している。

労働党は「労働時間短縮を求めるデフォルト権を与える」と報道
労働党政権は、英国の労働者に労働時間の短縮を求める権利を与えることを検討している。 柔軟な働き方 デイリー・テレグラフ紙によると、オプションとは4日間労働の一種である。

政府が労働時間の短縮を検討するだけでも、週4日勤務に猛反対していた保守党の時代とは大きく異なる。しかし、保守党政権は初日から労働者が柔軟な勤務形態を要求するのではなく、要請する権利を導入した。
