## 10月16日の次回投票に向けた不確実性

現在の候補者7名がこのまま選出プロセスを走り切るのか、それとも新たな「ダークホース」が参戦するのかは依然として不透明だ。防衛民主主義財団のベン・コーエン氏は、グリンスパン氏が必ずしも米国の第一希望ではない可能性を指摘しつつも、他の有力候補が拒否された場合の妥協候補として浮上する余地はあると分析した。一方で、グテーレス氏の任期終了が迫る中、後任不在の事態を避けるための「土壇場での妥協」が最も現実的なシナリオと見られている。国連の歴史上、事務総長の任期を空白にしたことはないが、現在のP5の深刻な対立は、「衝突事故（カークラッシュ）」の可能性を排除できない状況にある。
