The TikTok account @TeamTrump shared a video soundtracked to the song, depicting Donald and Melania Trump standing on a balcony watching fireworks with the text:

Fans noticed Friday that Swift’s track, from her 2020 album Folklore, has since been removed from the post by the copyright owner.
In the U.S. version of the TikTok app, a message on the video reads:

The White House TikTok account seemed to have drawn a short-lived retreat in its trolling of superstar Taylor Swift.

The video was accompanied by the Swift song “august,” and at the bottom of image was a note from “Team Trump” saying,

By last night, both the song (from Swift’s Folklore album) and the teasing note were removed from the account, replaced with a message in the U.S. reading,

The song removal was greeted with praise from Swift fans in the TikTok comments.

Both videos are now silent.
Trump-related social media accounts have used Swift’s music in other campaign videos, too, but several of those also no longer have sound.
It wasn’t just “August” that was removed from a Team Trump TikTok: Variety reports that a Team Trump video using Swift’s “Father Figure” that was posted back in November 2025 also had its audio removed.
The @TeamTrump TikTok account, which has 14 million followers, was set up ahead of the 2024 U.S. presidential election and has continued to post videos regularly since Trump was elected.
